One-part yogini, one-part choreographer, and one-part dance educator, Gina Sorensen has the supreme pleasure of talking about movement and the body all day long. While working toward her Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance at the University of Oregon, Gina was inspired by the physical, emotional, and mental transformation she felt as a practitioner of Yoga. She spent the summer of 2007 studying classical Indian dance and yoga in India, and soon after embarked on her Yoga Teacher Training with a deep desire to share this powerful practice with others. Now a long-time Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT), Gina teaches group classes and private lessons at Bonita Pilates and Yoga and Coronado Adult Education. In addition, she and her husband, Kyle, are the Co-Artistic Directors of somebodies dance theater, a contemporary modern dance company. She teaches dance at San Diego State University, Coronado School of the Arts, and San Diego City College. Gina was recently awarded a National Artist Teacher Fellowship in recognition of her work as a dance teacher and choreographer.
Ataraxic, aka Kyle Sorensen, has been making music for dance and yoga for over 12 years. When he is not on his yoga mat, he is in the dance studio. Kyle teaches dance at San Diego State University and San Diego City College. He is also the Co-Artistic Director of somebodies dance theater. Recently, Kyle was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study contemporary dance, folk dance, and choreographic processes in Israel for 9 months. He is looking forward to composing music for yoga classes shot on location in Israel in 2013-14.
